wow, really need to clean this up

It's been ages since I posted a blog entry, and I STILL haven't fixed the layout problems
ho hum, added it to my list.
In other news, I'm busy working on getting things ready for the next event. Rodney is now online and running ESXi (thank god, running out of resources on Dave!) and with YaZoRs help Rodney is ready to take up the mantle of 1v1 server host, with a whopping 16 1v1 servers! (8 Warsow and 8 UT).
I continue to work on the LlamaLAN website (don't I always) with some quick mods today that will hopefully increase performance and more planned to help in the future
New hub page is in progress to allow for much better organisation at the LAN. This is the central page for the attendes to mange all their matches, see what servers are running and of course shout their mouths off

Testing some more code

figured I may as well do a blog post at the same time
anyway, Rodney has arrived and is in the process of being commissioned. these means that some of the load can be moved off of Dave for the next LAN, making life a bit easier (hopefully)
I've completed several code upgrades on the site, including some new profile management code and a few tweaks to code used mainly at the LANs (Shoutbox and LAN Hub pages mainly).

It seems things are getting easier on the job front, work isn't pouring in, but it is certainly steady at the moment.
As for LlamaLAN, the site continues to keep me busy Rodney is ordered and en-route, ready to take his place next to dave on the server roster for LlamaLAN. With new site features going in ready for LL13 and old site features being repaired or re-written, I'm as busy as ever
New Tournament code is going in, as is new shoutbox code etc. Various bug fixes (as anyone who watches the bugs forum will notice) and a lot more besides.
I've got working rcon from the admin pages to certain server types, making running tournaments a lot easier Not to mention new virtual server builds to try and reduce the load on Dave (ubuntu builds with no GUI for example)

yet more work to be done on the site and the servers, but then there always is
I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it
Work is going into the internet connection to see if we can get a better setup sorted for the next event
and I need more sleep, but I have to work today and try and shoehorn some code into a very old php environment

LlamaLAN games servers
on Wednesday, March 25, 2009 03:53:12 PM by: Kanonfodda
As LlamaLAN attendees will know, I run games servers as virtual servers running on an ESXi host. As LL/XI is fast approaching, I thought it was time to update the servers and make sure everything is working
This means that Dave (the ESXi box) will have somewhere in the region of 12 servers running on it. 4 Source (HL2), 4 COD4 and 4 UT2K4. There will also be two additional servers, one network box doing web and FTP and a smoothwall box, acting as a firewall between the LlamaLAN network and the outside world.
I've got the Smoothwall mastered and working as well as the source and Ut servers. My efforts now are based around the COD4 servers. I am working to add on promod to allow for a bit more flexibility in the tournaments.
Once they are in place I will be adding any other games servers that people want running, including a Q3A box provided by YaZoR
and finally, I've also been working on the Tournament code built into the site to allow us to run the big games etc easily
The new bits will be available for the LAN
See you there.

Got home from work yesterday to utter carnage...
My rather tall young son had gotten hold of a tub of sudocrem. He then proceeded to spread this around the living room, including:
I was not amused (until he went to bed, when I fekin wet myself laughing!

As most of you will know, I have a young son (Marcus). We are just getting ready to celebrate his 2nd Birthday (if he lives that long
)
One of the problems we have found, is the fact he is very tall for his age, he can actually reach on to the kitchen counter and take things off

so, why build a blogging module? You may as well ask "why run LlamaLAN", both questions have the same answer. It's all Golems fault
This was started as a way to make the site more popular between events. It is intended for the "regulars" of LlamaLAN, although it is open to everyone
